Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division performs a variety of important functions to ensure the community remains safe, attractive, and compliant with local laws. Their key responsibilities include:

  1. Property Maintenance Enforcement: Addressing issues such as overgrown yards, trash, debris, and unsafe structures.
  2. Zoning Compliance: Ensuring land use and development follow zoning regulations, including setbacks, building height, and land use restrictions.
  3. Building Code Enforcement: Monitoring new constructions, renovations, and existing structures for safety and compliance with building standards.
  4. Signage Regulations: Regulating the size, placement, and type of signs to maintain community aesthetics.
  5. Nuisance Abatement: Addressing nuisances like noise, graffiti, illegal dumping, and abandoned vehicles.
  6. Housing Code Enforcement: Ensuring rental and owner-occupied properties meet health and safety standards.
  7. Violation Investigations: Responding to complaints from residents and conducting inspections.
  8. Issuance of Notices and Citations: Notifying property owners of violations and, if necessary, issuing citations or fines.
  9. Permitting and Certificate of Occupancies: Overseeing permits for construction, signage, and certain business activities.
The division works to promote compliance through education, outreach, and enforcement, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and thriving community.
